Education

In this section you will find information around your child/young person’s rights whilst they are in compulsory education – this section also explores Early Years education and post-16 provision.

Compulsory school age begins the term after your child’s 5th birthday, which means that they are not required under law to attend school until this time. Once your child reaches compulsory school age, the responsibility lies with a parent/carer to ensure that a child attends school as regularly as possible.
